The road to the Final Four continues as round 2 of the tournament is getting even more competitive. Top teams in the UAAP still look to topple the undefeated Ateneo Blue Eagles -- also reigning and defending champs, by the way. With that in mind, let's take a look back at what happened in last weekend's UAAP hoops:

Game 1: UE Red Warriors shock DLSU Archers 74-69
In what seemed to be an easy win for the Gang Green, they got a little dose of an unexpected surprise courtesy of the Red Warriors. Yes, the same UE Red Warriors team that's currently ranked last in the standings made the headlines. DLSU lead UE in the 1st quarter but didn't last long as the Red Warriors got into a scoring rampage in the 2nd quarter. Losing Yutien Andrada due to a knee injury he suffered early in the 1st quarter was a big blow for the Archers.
Without one of La Salle's key big man, UE took advantage of the their partially depleted roster. The tandem of Norbert Torres and Joshua Webb did everything they could to salvage a win against the Warriors but came up short in the end.
Lone veteran Paul Zamar lead the UE Red Warriors with 19 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists. His teammate John Noble added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks.
It was a valiant effort La Salle's Norbert Torres. He had 12 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 steal while Joshua Webb chipped in with 11 points, 4 boards and 2 blocks.
Game 2: Ateneo Blue Eagles crush UST Tigers 82-57
It was pretty much another day in the office for the Blue Eagles. Heck, who can stop these guys? The UST Growling Tigers tried their luck on possibly getting an upset win over the defending champs but just like all the other teams, it was all in vain. Just ask UST head coach Pido Jarencio.
The Blue Eagles lead the entire game and never looked back. Even the 1st half score of 42-22, it all seemed bleak for the Tigers. On top of that, the Ateneo bench literally took over the 2nd half until the final horn sounded. The rest was all history.
Nico Salva's 20 points, 7 boards and assists was simply enough to add another W for Ateneo. His teammate Justin Chua had a monster of a game off the bench with 18 points, 3 rebounds and one blocked shot.
Swingman Jeric Teng chalked up 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals for UST.

Game 1: NU Bulldogs devour UP Maroons 65-43
Everything seems to going wrong for the UP Fighting Maroons. Somehow the same thing can't be said for the National U Bulldogs. After getting destroyed by the Adamson Falcons last Thursday, the Bulldogs wanted to blow off some steam. For the Maroons however, they needed to get themselves back on the track -- or at least, that's what they wanted to happen.
Well, it didn't exactly happen the way the Maroons wanted. They played their worst game to date. Shooting horribly at 27% from the field, that pretty much spelled their fate. The Bulldogs took control of the entire game and their Superstar rook Bobby Ray Parks Jr. had an easy time scoring buckets -- lot's of it. As for the ballers from Diliman, they were simply hitting bricks -- and yes, lot's of it.
National U's Ray Parks Jr. single-handedly dominated the game. He dropped 22 points, 7 boards, 4 dimes and 1 block on the hapless Fighting Maroons. Emmanuel Mbe had a double-double performance with 17 points, grabbed 13 boards and 1 blocked shot.
Paolo Romero finished with only 7 points, 5 rebounds and 1 block for State U.
Game 2: FEU dump Adamson U 62-61
This match-up was by far the other game worth noting last week. If the UE-DLSU game made some noise last Saturday, the game between FEU and Adamson was the most exciting. Both the Falcons and Tamaraws were looking to take the number 2 spot in the standings. The winner would put them right behind the defending champs Ateneo.
The game was so intense it had 4 deadlocks and 2 lead changes. It was real tight and both teams were guns a blazing. The Tams against the Falcons was indeed main event worthy. RR Garcia played the game of his life as he and the Tamaraws seemed like the already knew what to expect from the Falcons.
Alex Nuyles on the other hand, knew what's at stake. Perhaps, he and the Falcons didn't expect FEU to jump on them early on yet it was all up to Nuyles to carry his team.
Aldrech Ramos was in beast mode as he was unstoppable scoring in the paint but fouled out late in the 4th quarter. The Falcons found an opportunity to close in on the Tamaraws with Ramos out of the game. They literally pulled all the stops to stay in the game but the Falcons came up short.
Despite fouling out in the game, Aldrech Ramos finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal for the Tamaraws. RR Garcia and Terence Romeo had 14 points apiece.
The Falcons' Alex Nuyles had 17 points, 10 boards, 3 steals and 2 assists.
