Last November 19, the Loyola Meralco Sparks officially booked a ticket to the Quarterfinals Stage in the 2013 UFL Cup. The Boys in Orange clearly beat the crap out of Cimarron FC lead by one Phil Younghusband. Albeit scoring a hat trick in that particular game, it's just another day in the office for the Sparks' Striker.

The UFL will be reverting back to the orignal bracketing format of the knockout rounds that was revised prior to the start of the Round of 16, as decided by the Technical Committee last night. Although the Tech Comm admits the initial format is flawed, as the top seeds immediately face each other in the quarterfinals, it was agreed that changing the format midway through the competition would be an unhealthy precedent to set for future competitions. The committee accepts that it was an oversight in their part not to have altered the format before the start of the competition, and has vowed to be more diligent in ensuring similar problems will no longer arise in the future.

The Round of 16 was wrapped up on Thursday night, as Green Archers United and Global FC booked their spots in the Quarterfinals. Unlike Tuesday, there weren't to be any shocks, with both higher seeded clubs going through quite comfortably.

The UFL Cup is no stranger to dramatic upsets, and on Tuesday night another one was served in extra-time, much to the pain of Kaya FC. Newly relegated Philippine Air Force were extremely undermanned heading into the match, missing five key players who were suspended after their involvement in a fracas in their final group game against Stallion. Despite the odds stacked heavily against them, the Airmen battled heroically to earn one of the sweetest victories in their storied history.
