Game 1 of the UAAP 73 Volleyball Finals was just the tip of the iceberg for both the UST Growling Tigers and DLSU Lady Archers. The FEU Tamaraws and UST Tigresses are looking to climb back from their loss and perhaps force a rubber match for this season's championship series. Somehow the Tigresses managed to take the Lady Archers to 5-sets but it didn't go that direction for the FEU Tamaraws on the latter. With the UST Growling Tigers and La Salle Lady Archers having the advantage, these two teams look to complete the season with a title win.

The UST Growling Tigers were looking to make a return trip to the finals and defend their title against the FEU Tamaraws. The DLSU Green Archers are also itching to win a title this year. Stakes are high as both teams want to play a couple of more games before the entire UAAP season 73 ends. They are rivals after all.

Manny loves Vinegar

A lot of cameos (sort of) in the said vinegar commercial including a certain boxer who kept dodging Saranggani Representative Manny Pacquaio to settle their score in the ring. Bet y'all know who I'm talking about *coughfloydcoughmayweatherjrcough* -- he got KO'd there by the way. That was epic.

A lot of fight fans would love to see that happen -- in a real boxing match that is.

For now, we'll all have to settle on his upcoming bout against "Sugar" Shane Mosley on May 2011.

On that note, the hype continues....

FEU, UST advance to UAAP 73 Volleyball Finals

The Final Four of the UAAP Volleyball for season 73 has officially begun. On Wednesday, teams ranked 2 and 3 faced for both the Men's and Women's Volleyball Tournament. The FEU Tamaraws look to get back in Finals and the defending champs UST Tigresses aim to keep their title this season.

The Lady Maroons may be out but not their male counterparts as the UP Fighting Maroons want to be in the title hunt just as bad as the FEU Tamaraws. FEU lost to UST in last year's championship match and they are obviously out to redeem themselves once again. A win on UP would take them back to the finals.

NBA Legend AC Green to visit the Philippines for Jr. NBA National Training Camp

Former LA Laker, Iron Man and NBA Legend AC Green will join
the Jr. NBA Festivities in the Philippines on April 9-11.
(Image via acgreen.com)

The Jr. NBA Clinics are just heating up. And what better way to keep the fire burning is to have an NBA Legend join the fun and spread the gospel of basketball. The question is who? Last year, former Chicago Bulls guard BJ Armstrong graced the Jr. NBA festivities -- which was a huge success, of course. From the East Coast, the West gets to rep and show some love to all the young ballers here in the Philippines. I'm talking about NBA Legend and Iron Man AC Green.

Adamson clinch 3rd spot, La Salle defeats UST

Two teams jocking for the 3rd place and the right to face the defending champs UST in the Final Four -- Adamson U and Ateneo. Same situation, same day (Valentine's eve), just like last season. Ateneo won the 3rd spot over Adamson at the time. Seems the Lady Falcons haven't forgotten about it but lightning striking twice would be answered soon enough.

National U destroys UE, FEU dumps UP

The National University Lady Bulldogs somehow got their revenge when they lost to the FEU Lady Tamaraws for the 5th spot in the standings. With the University of the East Lady Warriors playing in their worst season to date, getting a win should be an easy one. True enough, that's exactly what the Lady Bulldogs did on Saturday.

Nick Heidfeld to replace Robert Kubica for Renault

German Nick Heidfeld could be the suitable replacement for Renault's Robert Kubica.
(Eurosport UK/Reuters)

As per reports that Kimi Raikkonen's possible return to Formula One to replace Robert Kubica's seat, the Renault camp is rumored to be leaning towards German Nick Heidfeld as their guy. While they have some good drivers in mind to fill in for Kubica who got injured in a rally competition last week. Many speculate that choosing Heidfeld over Raikkonen could perhaps be a good decision for Renault.

FEU falls to UST, La Salle roll past UP

The defending champions UST Tigresses got into yet another 5-setter game before officially claiming the number 2 spot in the tournament. A win over FEU would not only guarantee them the number 2 spot but also the twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four. While the FEU Lady Tams have already sealed their ranking at number 5, upsetting the defending champs would make it even sweeter.

PHL Azkals defeats Mongolia for AFC Challenge Cup Qualifier

The Philippine Azkals played their first home at the packed Panaad Stadium in Bacolod against the Blue Wolves from Mongolia to qualify for the AFC Challenge Cup. A few minutes prior to kick-off, Azkals' Coach Hans Michael Weiss announced his official team line up for the game. It pretty much kept everybody guessing about it though. Nonetheless, they are very much expected to win this all important qualifying match.

Formula One driver Robert Kubica got seriously injured a few days ago during a rally competition in Italy. He was taken to a hospital after the crash. Surprisingly, his co-driver Jacub Gerber wasn't hurt in the accident. While this wasn't the first time the Polish driver got involved in an accident while in competition, this was by far the worst he's ever got into.

I posted a piece on the swoosh's film project starring Kobe Bryant a month ago, a new trailer of "The Black Mamba" was released by Nike Basketball this February. The film is directed by Hollywood director Robert Rodriguez. Joining Kobe are actors Bruce Willis, Danny Trejo and Rapper/Grammy winner Kanye West. Didn't know Yeezy wanted to do movies.

Azkals ready for battle against Mongolia tomorrow

With just hours before the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers kick-off at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod, the Philippine Azkals look to be ready to clash with their Mongolian counterparts. Speaking of the Panaad Stadium, the venue got a little bit of a makeover days prior to the historical sports event. That goes to show that football has become a hot item since the Azkals made their triumphant run at the AFF Suzuki Cup last year.

Packers win Super Bowl XLV

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers raises their newly won Vince Lombardi trophy.
(Image via Yahoo! Sports)

Who would've thought the Green Bay Packers would return to the Super Bowl and win? While many have predicted the Pittsburgh Steelers would be victorious in Dallas, seems some have already forgotten about the many titles the Packers have through the years. Some have doubted they can't win without legendary Quarterback Brett Favre -- or so they thought.

Jr. NBA Clinics dishing more success in the Philippines

Kids huddle up with US Based Jr. NBA Coach Frank Lopez.
(Image via JRNBA.COM.PH)

The Jr. NBA Clinics in the Phillipines officially began mid-January with the coaches kicking off the NBA style boot camp. The following day, the Bacolod leg of the clinics scored a record breaking attendance. Provinces like Cebu and Laguna have also been successful. More clinics will be conducted as preaching the gospel of basketball continues in the coming days. The Jr. NBA Clinics will run until April.

Tigresses devour Lady Falcons, La Salle destroys Ateneo

The final four teams are all set but the 2nd, 3rd and 4th seeds have yet to be determined. UST is still not out of the woods yet as Ateneo and Adamson U have their sights on the number 2 spot. Should the defending champs lose their game against AdU and Ateneo gets a W on DLSU, the Tigresses are in danger of dropping to 3rd or 4th place. A critical game for all three teams trying to avoid facing La Salle in the first round of the semis.

UP beats UE, FEU tames NU

The University of the East Lady Warriors haven't been at their best as of late. They sure had their behinds whooped by Ateneo last Wednesday. Clearly, UE Coach Vangie De Jesus has a lot of work to do for her squad. The possibility finishing at the bottom of the standings could very well be a nightmare she never wanted to experience for this season.

No love for Justin Bieber at Knicks game

The appearance of 'The Bieb" at MSG didn't sit too well for Knicks fans. The crowd's epic reaction was definitely an understatement. Except for one girl -- a Justin Bieber fan for sure -- was obviously in awe and happy to see him, she broke down and cried.

The video is enough proof.

Will he get the same reception at the Celebrity All-Star Game in LA? We'll all find out soon....

Adamson dumps NU, Ateneo whips UE

Ateneo's Gretchen Ho on the attack.

This is like deja vu for Ateneo and Adamson U. Both teams still tied in 3rd place and in must win games in the same day yet again. Not exactly what they had in mind. One thing's for sure, losing is not an option. On the brighter side, they both face struggling teams, the NU Lady Bulldogs and UE Lady Warriors respectively. At least both UE and NU have something in common though, they got swept by DLSU and UST last Saturday.
