About a week ago, the Philippines was hit by strongest typhoon ever recorded in history and the most affected part of the country was in the Visayas Region. Gretchen Ho with Petron Blaze Spikers teammates Kara Acevedo, Karla Bello, Dzi Gervacio and Steph Mercado thought of a way to help the victims of Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan particularly in Tacloban city.

It's a no-brainer that they are among the most popular names in Philippine Volleyball, they organized a Volleyball Jersey (online) Auction for a Cause .

"We thought about it kasi we wanted to help in our own little way. So why not inform the whole community and I think everybody is very very much willing and excited to help," Gretchen Ho said.

What started out with a twitter survey, became viral. Netizens loved the idea of having a jersey auction for a cause. She was overwhelmed by the positive response in the twitterverse especially from current/former volleyball players from the UAAP and NCAA.

"Nag survey lang ako sa twitter tapos biglang ang ganda ng reaction ng mga tao," the former Lady Eagle explained. "They’re all volunteering their jerseys – sobrang ganda talaga ng response."

With a lot of bidding for the jerseys even before the auction date, Gretchen hopes that the online auction would be success.

"Sana on the auction [day] itself maging successful."

The Volleyball Jersey Auction officially opened the bid for the jerseys this Sunday morning at 7 am and bidding will close on Monday 7 am.
