UFL Revert Back To Original Bracketing Format

The UFL will be reverting back to the orignal bracketing format of the knockout rounds that was revised prior to the start of the Round of 16, as decided by the Technical Committee last night. Although the Tech Comm admits the initial format is flawed, as the top seeds immediately face each other in the quarterfinals, it was agreed that changing the format midway through the competition would be an unhealthy precedent to set for future competitions. The committee accepts that it was an oversight in their part not to have altered the format before the start of the competition, and has vowed to be more diligent in ensuring similar problems will no longer arise in the future.

The Tech Comm is composed of:

a) One (1) representative from each club;

b) Two (2) representatives from the FA;

c) One (1) representative from the NCRFA or PFF; and

d) The Tournament Director who shall be a co-opted member (no voting power).

Based on the decision, the new schedule of fixtures will be as such:

NOTE: Due to TV concerns, the kick-off of the 2nd match for all stages may be adjusted as follows:
  1. If the 1st match is decided on during the regulation period, kick-off of the 2nd match is at 19:45 H (7:45 PM).

  2. If the 1st match is decided on during the two 15-min extra periods, kick-off of the 2nd match is at 20:15 H (8:15 PM).

  3. If the 1st match is decided on during a penalty shoot out, kick-off of the 2nd match is at 20:30 H (8:30 PM).
