For the former Lady Rising Sun, she never wanted to go through that same frustration when the Cagayan almost made it to the Finals last conference. Playing for a new team like Cignal gave her another opportunity to redeem herself. Plus, the coach's trust was enough drive for her to give her best on the court.
"Siyempre overwhelmed kasi ayoko nang maulit yung nangyari sa amin nung nasa Cagayan ako – yung another used to be. Parang ang sakit sa puso," said Dionela.
"Kaya binigay ko na lang talaga yung best ko. Tapos laki ng tiwala ni Coach Sam sa akin. Siyempre ako siya i-down."
Having played her best game against PLDT MyDSL Spikers, her efforts weren't in vain as she was the biggest reason why they broke PLDT's undefeated streak. It was indeed quite an upset as everybody was expecting PLDT to go all the way to the Finals.
"It’s nobody’s game sabi nga nila – na bilog ang bola," the feisty Libero stressed.
"Kahit na wala silang talo, di naman pwede di namin sila matalo basta ibibigay lang namin yung best."
That best performance earned her the Player of the Game honors alongside teammate Chie Saet. Jheck knows she came to the PSL to win. She didn't want all her hard-work and support to be for nothing. Like her stint in the NCAA for the Perpetual Help Altas, she'll do whatever it takes just to get that W.
"Di naman ako pumunta dito para matalo eh, di ba? Wala naman gustong pumunta na talo ka. Sayang yung preparations, sayang yung binibigay na suporta eh," she said.
Now that she's at the prime of her career, she's just happy to bring glory back to her new team.
"Siyempre Masaya. Last conference, Cignal was first runner up. Tapos ayun nga naibalik namin yung dating glory, yung victory na binigay ng dating team sa ngayon ulit."
