Fresh from their first win on opening weekend, the National University Lady Spikers found themselves on the other side of the fence in Day 3 of UAAP Volleyball 73. The new and improved Ateneo Lady Blue Eagles where off to a good start as they took advantage of NU's inforced errors. They cruised the first 2 sets with a huge margin.
NU tried to get back in the game as they barely escaped a sweep from Ateneo and kept it close by winning the 3rd set. Rialen Sante and Mervic Mangui did everything they could to muster enough strength but soon faltered in the 4th and final set. The Lady Blue Eagles scored their first win 3-1 over the National University Lady Spikers.
Ateneo's Jorella De Jesus' strong plays completely shut down the Lady Bulldogs with 18 points and was named Player of the Game. Veteran Gretchen Ho wasn't far behind for the Lady Blue Eagles with 8 attacks.
Meanwhile, the De La Salle Lady Archers were simply dominant in the second game. The UAAP 1st runners up gave the UP Fighting Lady Maroons something to ponder on after getting a taste of victory over the UE Lady Spikers last Sunday. The still undefeated Lady Archers handed UP their first loss via a 3 set sweep.
DLSU's Jacqueline Alarca was once again in the zone penetrating UP's tall yet strong front line of Pauline May Genido and Southlyn Ramos. Alarca got 13 points in the game.
