Ateneo and Adamson extend their streak, remain tied for third spot

Fresh from their big win against UST last month, the University of the Philippine Fighting Lady Maroons look for another W against the Adamson Lady Falcons. Mela Lopez and Co. couldn't be more happier with that W. With that in mind, a win streak of their own is in order.

Speaking of streaks, Adamson is continuing to rack up wins as of late. A win on the Lady Maroons would make them the lone third placer in the tournament. The only problem is, Ateneo is playing in the same day as they are. The Lady Eagles are expected to win in their match against the Lady Tamaraws. Simply put, every game is important for both teams.

La Salle and UST sweep opponents in Day 21

The National University Lady Bulldogs haven't been playing good volleyball lately. Their game against Ateneo about a couple of weeks ago didn't sit too well for them. With their toughest schedule in the tournament, getting a W on La Salle would mean a step closer to the Final Four -- or so they thought.

It's pretty much another day in the office for the La Salle Lady Archers. They've been steamrolling every single opponent they played. They easily snapped the Lady Tams streak last Wednesday and they look to do the same thing on the Lady Bulldogs. The Ladies in Green have been on a mission all season long.

The Black Mamba goes Hollywood

Director Robert Rodriguez discusses a scene from "The Black Mamba" with Kobe Bryant and Bruce Willis.

We all know the Kobe Bryant is one of the best players in the NBA today, and it's not the first time Kobe's had some brush with Hollywood like this video game ad with Jimmy Kimmel. This time however, Nike is producing a movie -- starring Kobe Bryant, of course -- along with Bruce Willis and is directed by Robert Rodriguez.

DLSU snap FEU's streak, AdU win big on UE

When the Lady Archers are out dominating UAAP Women's Volleyball, they could care less about that little setback, right? I mean, come on?!! They just simply let their game do the talking for them -- like their game against UE last Sunday -- and nothing else. Period. That's pretty much the same thing for the FEU Lady Tams who have been steamrolling their opponents in the last couple of weeks. Just ask the Adamson Lady Falcons.

NU drops to Ateneo, UP defeats UST

Having played their worst game of the season, the National University Lady Bulldogs aim to bounce back from their loss to UST last week. In Blue Eagle land, Ateneo has been on a roll. A win against NU would propel them in 3rd place in the team standings.

Jr. NBA 2011 in the Philippines has officially begun

The Philippines will always be basketball country an the popularity of the NBA has grown through the years. A lot of Filipino kids aspire to play pro-ball someday. With the success of Jr. NBA since it began in 2007 in the Philippines, young ballers now have the opportunity to hone their skills once again like their favorite players in the NBA. Young coaches are no exceptions, of course. Hoops mentors from different provinces trooped to the Ynares Sports Complex in Pasig City for the Manila leg of the Jr. NBA Coaches Training camp last January 19.

PHL Azkals prepare for AFC Tournament on February

With their success in the recently concluded AFF Suzuki Cup last year, the Philippine Azkals prepare themselves for an even bigger challenge -- the AFC Challenge Cup. The team has already begun training for this Asia-wide soccer fest 2 weeks ago and I was lucky enough to witness the team's practice sessions at the University of Makati. The Azkals will be playing 2 home games in Panaad, Bacolod against Mongolia starting February 9.

Lady Archers still on top, FEU hangs on for 3rd straight win

They are no longer the unbeaten Lady Archers via a technicality. Well, at least suffering one loss is better than dropping 4 games, right? On Saturday, DLSU look to add another W to their list. Ironically, the University of the East Lady Warriors were also on the receiving end of the latter and would love to regain some boost in the 2nd round against their Green counterparts.

UAAP issues suspension of 4 Volleybelles

Still on top: The DLSU Lady Archers remain the number 1 team
in the UAAP Women's Volleyball sans the controversy.

The DLSU Lady Archers were making some noise last week. I'm not talking about their unbeaten streak in the UAAP. Word has it that two of La Salle's Volleybelles reportedly played for another tournament while the UAAP games are ongoing. This is not actually the first time Team Green was hit by a similar setback.

Ateneo extends win streak, UST halts 2 game skid

Nothing perhaps has changed for the UP Fighting Lady Maroons on Wednesday. With all the talent, experience and size they have, those advantages didn't seem to matter whichever opponent they faced. You can't blame UP Coach Vip Isada on the latter. It's either they are playing their worst or they've totally abandoned ship. He better find a way to regroup his team and score a W in the second round.

Nike introduces a lighter version of LeBron James' signature kicks

We all saw the release of the Nike LeBron VIII's October last year, Nike designer Jason Petrie brings back LeBron's latest sneaks with a much lighter twist -- the Nike LeBron VIII V/2. The Miami Heat Forward's game is vastly changing whenever he steps on the court, what better way for Nike to upgrade the same model fit for the King.

FEU start own win streak, DLSU shoot down Adamson

After scoring their first ever win in the second round, they now look to continue racking up W's. Must be a good year for the Lady Tams to begin with. Maica Morada was very much pleased with her teammates performance. Having a taste of a first victory surely lifted their confidence up.

NU still on a roll, Ateneo destroys UST in 2nd round

The National University Lady Bulldogs weren't fazed when they fell to the UST Tigresses a couple of weeks ago. In fact, it was more of a motivation for them as they faced the struggling UP Lady Maroons -- the team that desperately needs a win for a boost of confidence in the second round. UP Coach Vip Isada isn't exactly optimistic on his team's chances against NU.

Lady Tams finally get W, Tigresses fall to Undefeated Lady Archers

The last day of UAAP Volleyball's 1st round pit four teams looking to get a much needed win. FEU's hungry for their first win while UP tries to break their slump. Two undefeated teams with a similar win-loss record -- fighting for the top spot in the standings -- a rematch of last year's finals between the DLSU Lady Archers and defending champs the UST Tigresses.

Adamson tops UP, Ateneo crush FEU

The Holiday break somehow helped the Adamson Lady Falcons get back groove back and Coach Dulce Pante is just happy with her team as of late. Heck, who wouldn't be if your team's momentum hasn't changed, right? On the other side of the fence, the UP Lady Fighting Maroons have a lot of questions than answers.

DLSU still unbeaten, UST rips NU

Fresh from their holiday break, the De La Salle Lady Archers simply picked up where they left off -- win games. So far, they're having the best season to date as they remain on top of the standings. On Saturday, they faced the University of the East Lady Warriors to extend their streak. What better way to kickoff 2011 and wrap up the first round with a bang.

Looking Back

First post for the year 2011. Heck it's been a blast doing a lot of stuff last year. 2010 did pack a lot of stuff happening in sports and it was my busiest year not just for me as a writer but also for my blog.
