"Nick is here to be evaluated," the Frenchman said at the second pre-season test of the year at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain.Heidfeld hasn't been in Formula One competition for about a year now, it would be a great opportunity to redeem himself. While his F1 resume isn't all that bad, driving for a team like Renault could elevate his skills to the next level. After all, Ferrari's Fernando Alonso did make an impact for Renault a few years ago."Once we have finished our assessment of him, if we are happy with Nick, then we keep Nick. If we are not, we go to Barcelona and we test some other drivers," he is reported to have said, referring to the next test.
"We have to develop this car from scratch, so the obvious choice of driver is an experienced one."
