Jr. NBA Clinics dishing more success in the Philippines

The Jr. NBA Clinics in the Phillipines officially began mid-January with the coaches kicking off the NBA style boot camp. The following day, the Bacolod leg of the clinics scored a record breaking attendance. Provinces like Cebu and Laguna have also been successful. More clinics will be conducted as preaching the gospel of basketball continues in the coming days. The Jr. NBA Clinics will run until April.

Jr. NBA School Clinics go full blast in Cebu, Bacolod, Manila and Laguna

Five thousand kids in Bacolod, Cebu, Manila and soon, Laguna are expected to learn NBA-style basketball fundamentals and the core values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, a positive Attitude and Respect as the 2011 Jr. NBA Philippines Program presented by Alaska runs its school clinics for the whole month of February and early March in these areas.

A record number of 1005 kids attended the Bacolod clinics, setting a new record for Jr. NBA school clinic attendance worldwide. 300 Cebu kids participated in the program last week. Now Metro Manila runs its Jr. NBA school clinics for students in Luzon and the NCR at Xavier School on February 12, Don Bosco-Makati on February 19 and Marikina Heights Covered Court on February 26. The Jr. NBA clinics go to the Lakeshore Institute in Biñan, Laguna on March 5 and 6.

To join the clinics, all kids have to do is register online at the Jr. NBA Philippines website (www.jrnba.com.ph) or simply show up at the venues at least an hour before the sessions. Registration starts at 9 a.m. for the 10 a.m. to 12 noon morning session and 1 p.m. for the 2-4 p.m. afternoon session. Boys and girls at least 6 years old can join the clinics.

After the school clinics the Regional Selection Camps take place at the Sacred Heart School in Mandaue City, Cebu on March 17, at St. John’s Institute, Bacolod City on March 19, at Lakeshore Institute in Biñan, Laguna on March 24 and at Xavier School, Greenhills, San Juan on March 26. Only boys aged 10-14 can join the various Regional Selection Camps.

40 of the best campers from each region will be chosen alongside 10 more outstanding campers from the Alaska Power Camp. The 50 kids will compete with one another for 10 slots in the National Training Camp. The Top Ten national campers will be named the 2011 Jr. NBA Philippines All Star Team and will be rewarded with an authentic NBA experience and the chance to play against other Jr. NBA All Star Teams.
