Two teams jocking for the 3rd place and the right to face the defending champs UST in the Final Four -- Adamson U and Ateneo. Same situation, same day (Valentine's eve), just like last season. Ateneo won the 3rd spot over Adamson at the time. Seems the Lady Falcons haven't forgotten about it but lightning striking twice would be answered soon enough.
Adamson dominated Ateneo in the first set. It was almost like Ateneo's game against La Salle about a couple of weeks ago. At least in the 2nd set, the Lady Eagles put up a good fight but it didn't matter to the Lady Falcons as they easily got the 2-0 advantage. Ateneo's Fille Cainglet and Bea Pascual tried to lift their team once again in the 3rd set but all their efforts were in vain. Adamson completed their sweep on Ateneo 3 sets to nil and officially clinched to the 3rd seed.
Adamson U's Angela Benting was named Shakey's Best Player of the Game finishing with 19 points (14 attacks, 4 blocks and 1 service ace).

Meanwhile, top seeded tea DLSU dodged a bullet from UST as they won their 5-setter game for the first time in the season. While nobody expected the Tigresses to give the Lady Archers a run for their money, it almost seemed like a preview of what could be the UAAP Finals rematch. The atmosphere was very much like that in a championship series.
Unforced errors, mostly from their service attempts, took a toll on the Lady Archer's momentum -- which the defending champs took advantage of in sets 2 and 3. The combined efforts of UST's Aiza Maizo, Judy Caballejo and Maru Banaticla also made a difference. La Salle somehow won the equalizer in the 4th and finally escaped UST's grasp to seal their win 3-2. The Tigresses' Aiza Maizo, whom played her best game of the season, finished with 20 points.
Cha Cruz of La Salle got the Shakey's Best Player of the Game award racking up 17 points (14 attacks and 2 blocks).
